In 1936, four men with a dream began a small business in Cleveland, Ohio. Together they felt if they would manufacture quality Old World luncheon meats they could service the needs of community rich in different ethnic backgrounds.

Starting with one car and a used truck, business thrived and in 1945 they opened a modern USDA meat processing plant on Fulton Road. In 1986 the Homestead label was purchased and an additional manufacturing facility opened in Mansfield, Ohio.

In 1991 our core group, purchased Bosell Salad Company, Changing the name to Bosell Foods, Inc. to reflect the addition of various products that would be gradually added to the line. Bosell had been a fixture in Cleveland since 1927.At the same time, the Brookside label was purchased along with all of the original recipes. This was then brought back to Cleveland.

	Brookside/Bosell has long been synonymous with quality and integrity in Cleveland. At this time, the company entered into a period of aggressive expansion with the addition of an energetic sales force, an active advertising campaign and state-of-the- art equipment to enhance production and efficiency.
Because of our good name, hard work and customer relations, it was not long before other companies came to us to represent their lines, thus Gateway Specialty Foods was born. We are the in house brokerage for the manufacturing arm of our company.

At this point in time we represent approximately 23 various lines that not only include meat, deli, bakery and seafood, but also, grocery and non-foods. We are also a "Value Added" organization that is capable of offering our customers private label services from concept to end-user.
